Alma, Quebec Apartment & House Rentals
In the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean district of Quebec, roughly 175 km north of Quebec City, Alma is situated on the southeast coast of Lac Saint-Jean, where it flows into the Saguenay River. After the town of Saguenay, Alma is the second city in population in the area of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The present town of Alma was established in 1962 from the fusion of four villages: Isle-Maligne, Naudville, Riverbend and St-Joseph d'Alma. With the construction of a hydro-electric power station on the Grande-Décharge Dam, a paper mill and an aluminum smelting plant, the area became a significant industrial center during the 1920s and 1930s, both of which are still in operation today.
