Cornwall is a city on the banks of the St. Lawrence that wishes to expand. At present, the population is marginally older than the typical Canadian and mostly white – but developments in its industrial park, including large distribution centers for Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart, and a Service Canada center. It is the most far-eastern city in Ontario, and as it borders the province of Quebec, you will find a large francophone presence here.

Ottawa and Montreal within an hour’s drive, meaning that while most people do not drive to these cities, they are available if you absolutely need them. In town you may find a couple of golf courses and a community hospital; Lamoureaux Park is right on the water and has a small beach area, as well as a children's playground and splash pad, and Guindon Park is crisscrossed with hiking paths that can be used during the summer, and a wonderful network of winter cross-country ski paths. There is also a rowing club in the area, a large shopping center, a water center, a library, skate rinks, and festivals. Houses for rent in Cornwall are an affordable alternative to Ottawa and Montreal.
