York, Ontario Apartment & House Rentals

York is a neighborhood at the west end of Toronto, northwest of Old Toronto, southwest of North York, and east of Etobicoke on the banks of the Humber River. Not to be confused with North York or East York. Originally known as York Township, it was one of the six townships that combined to create the present town of Toronto in 1998. One of the initial Black neighborhoods in Toronto was York Township, and the history remains to this day, where 15.9 percent of the population of the city is Black. Several smaller neighborhoods, including Weston and Lambton, include York.

In York, housing varies dramatically by area. Lambton has a number of detached York area single-family homes for rent on lots of mature trees and river views, as well as the Lambton Golf and Country Club. High-rise York area apartments for rent can be found in Oakwood-Vaughan and Weston via major arterial routes. Because of the quirky houses for rent scattered across the steep ravine landscape that is close to the famed hills of the coastal city of Northern California, Silverthorne-Fairbank has been described as "Toronto's San Francisco."
