Our rates are all inclusive, furnished with no lease. We are a family home, working, volunteering and very busy and so are our housemates! Are you new to our area, working professional, here on a contract, trying to buy a house, or you just sold, trades person in the area on a job, graduate student, just graduated, on placement, faculty member, retired and downsizing,, seperating, divorced?...so many types of people stay with us...you don’t want a lease, you can't find an affordable room, apartment or house to rent! OUR RATES We have different rates based on the bedroom size! Remember we may have quite a few bedrooms but we limit between 1 to 3 housemates at a time! TV with lots of channels, fast Wi-Fi unlimited, laundry (we start you off with the soap too) parking (3 behind garage) completely furnished with linen and towels, bike storage, full kitchen, cupboard space for your dry goods too and remember you can help yourself to our house breakfast basket! We got it a lot covered! Utilities, laundry self-serve, alley parking, house supplies, cleaning service 2x per month no charge, Wi-Fi unlimited. OUR LOCATION We are steps from Riverside Drive! It's in an historical area of Windsor! Super close to the Detroit River with gorgeous view and trail system to enjoy!! Nice neighbourhood, awesome neighbours, borders The Riverfront Trail and Walkerville area If you enjoy city life and older neighbourhoods with an artsy flavour you'll love this renewed part of Windsor, Ontario. Homes all built in the early 1900's offering character and charm. (Old floors, old doors, all original, very simple, not suburb like) Within walking distance are local restaurants, pubs, breweries, cafe's, markets, vintage stores, barber shops and we are surrounded by the rich ethnic flavours of Windsor's years AND years of diversity. We were multicultural before the word existed! On google maps our city administrator has labelled our neighbourhood as Walkerville It is not really Walkerville. The social history of Walkerville is based on Hiram Walker, which is within a 1 minute walk away. Our neighbourhood is part of a different area that follows the Detroit River, we have a rich history dating back to Chief Pontiac war, rich in diversity dating back to the 1700 of the Indigenous, French and Underground Railroad people, the War of 1812, eventually railroaders, post world war immigration, many trades…all this leading to a very mixed socio economic neighbourhood which still exists today! TRANSPORTATION INFO On convenient bus line: Crosstown 2 and Walkersville 8. and we also have awesome bike lanes on our neighbourhood streets! Super close to VIA rail and close to bus station too! OTHER LOCATION INFORMATION Very close to Walker Rd bringing you to the 401. Very close the Bridge and Tunnel bringing to the USA. Super close to beautiful Riverside Dr and Wyandotte Street bringing you to one end of the city to the other. PARKING Parking Available (3 spots in our alley), No permits and FREE. If you ride a bicycle that's awesome too! We have a locked garage to store your bike. FOOD Food is not included but please help yourself to our shared baskets of food,...we always have morning coffee available and tea too! LANDLORD VS FAMILY HOME We are a family home. We have been sharing our home for 30 years. This one specifically since we bought it in 2001. We do not run our home as a business. Our home is owner occupied. We are not listed with Airbnb. We are not listed on bed and breakfast sites and instead if you inquire about a short stay, we will be happy to refer you to area bed and breakfasts that are licensed and follow proper health and safety rules. Long before Airbnb and the internet, since around 1990 we have been providing a lifestyle we believe in, given our own personal experiences with trying to find a healthy, safe, affordable and nice place to call home. We did not believe we should be forced to sacrifice these important things in order to have a place to live. While away at University we experienced this struggle, were fortunate to finally secure nice places and began the journey of sharing the places we rented with others as a renter. We didn’t want what happened to us to happen to others. We continued this once we owned our own home. We do our best to cover our expenses and keep the rates affordable. In September 2022 we increased the rates but continue to stay affordable. We had not increased since 2001. THOUGHTFUL CLARIFYING NOTES... Want drama-free? here are some things that help us provide a peaceful tranquil home.... If you lead a busy life outside the home, please get in touch with us. If you are in the process of looking for work or looking for volunteer work please connect with us once you have established your schedule. We find people who are busy outside the home on a regular basis are a perfect fit for our space and our housemates like that too! Working, volunteering or in school is perfect for us! This also helps keep our costs down which allows us to keep sharing with people needing an affordable great place to call home. WHAT IS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR US... If you do home based school, home based consulting or home based business, are self-employed with no office, live a homebody lifestyle or like guests to visit this is not a good fit for us. *****PLEASE NOTE: We are not a business. We cannot, we do not need nor want multiple people. We do not allow sharing the bedroom with another person and nor do we have an environment of multiple bedrooms with multiple people. This has become a request in the last few years and is often associated with students. We have been inundated with this type of request. We apologize in advance.
