This one bedroom and patio (+wifi/utilities/parking spot/shed access) is part of a two bedroom unit shared with one other tenant (my youngest sister) on the third floor of an extremely cute home on the West End. Most of the tenants (who live on separate floors) have been here long-term. The landlord is an elderly man who lives on the main floor with care workers who are on premise 24/7 to support him. You’ll rarely bump into them, but it does mean that whoever lives in this space should be mindful of this! The living room/kitchen space is fairly spacious. The living room window is pretty big and brings in lots of gorgeous light during the day. There’s also quite a bit of kitchen cupboard space for your things as well as a large closet. The bathroom is a bit compact, but the shower/tub combo could be cute for running baths. Your bedroom is roughly 9x11 feet including the closet space. There’s one cute window overlooking the patio. The room will likely be fully unfurnished except the bed frame, with the option for me to take that out as well. There’s also a small shed space you have access to put your bike or belongings in. About your roommate: Jewel (26, F) is a full-time criminology graduate student at TMU. You can find her studying or at school literally all day. She’ll cook once in a while, but it leaves the kitchen for the most part unoccupied for any cooking enthusiasts out there! Jewel loves birds, racial equity, and silly things(?). As a roommate, I think you’ll sometimes forget she’s even home because she’s so quiet just hanging out in her room, but she’s nice and quite laid back, so hopefully you will both have a very peaceful time together. About you: You’re perhaps more introverted or are mindful of your roommate's introversion. Polite and friendly with fellow tenants and landlord. Respectful of the house. A non-smoker. No pets (Both due to health issues of the other tenants). What you’ll need for the application process: Credit check Proof of employment/guarantor if you’re a student Last month's deposit to secure the spot! Pros: Your room comes with a PATIO! SO, SO, SO gorgeous in the spring/summer/fall time. The landlord’s daughter (main point of contact) is prompt with replying to house concerns and will have it fixed asap. She is professional, kind and warm and very easy to get along with. Walking distance to cute fun arts stuff like Northern Contemporary and the Revue Cinemas Also walking distance to Keele Station, Dundas West station, and literally across the street from a King streetcar busstop (we can see the bus from our windows haha) Cons: This space has a narrow and long staircase and is not accessible for most mobility devices. (Also a problem if you want to bring in larger mattresses or furniture pieces) The house is on the older side, so plumbing could get backed up quicker than average, though we haven’t had any problems so far! Coin laundry :’) ($4.50 for wash + dry) Due to allergies of other tenants, there is a no pet policy :’). |
