| I am looking for a unique roommate to share a 2-bedroom apartment at Adelaide and Huron. The rent is $600, but also negotiable. Setting the scene: I am an active, healthy senior requiring no special care. I am quiet except for the TV maybe, and if that is an issue I have headphones. A bonus perhaps, is I am an avid home chef and make way more than I can consume. The shows on the TV (no TV, it's actually my computer monitor tucked away in the intended dining nook) are usually cooking shows. I am also a small appliance junkie, so the kitchen is well-equipped. I have a dog who is in his final ? months, perhaps. He has dementia and makes messes sometimes, but is otherwise harmless. I also have an old male cat that is not fixed. You'd be well advised to keep your door closed. Other than that he will just ignore you. You would get a good-sized room (the whole place is large) that you'd need to furnish and full use of the rest of the apartment aside from my desk. A free parking spot is available. The rent is $600 all-inclusive. But that is negotiable. It might be zero for a few months or just reduced. That depends on you. Sounds great, right? Except maybe living with an old guy part. There's a catch to this deal, and here it comes... This place is trashed. I have been here 30 years. In that time it has been a warehouse of sorts, a large operation eBay seller shop, an internet start-up head office, AND I raised my son here from 5-30 years old. His room is the one available and it has 30 years of use and abuse showing. The room specifically needs work. It needs plaster and paint, a new door (this one has a doggy-door cut into it and a poor job at that.) The closet door needs painting or replacing. Your call. The carpet is stained. Likely beyond a steam cleaner. It needs a room-sized rug or replacing, in my view, but you are the one who has to sleep there. The rest of the place needs a coat of paint and reflooring in some manner. The living room is empty of furniture and open to suggestions. I'd like to redo the bathroom and need a light installed in my room. To sum up. I need a handy person who is willing to trade their skills for a room they have to fix up. The rent depends on the skill level, but mostly on the production level. And I am not asking for a lot in that either. Spare time stuff if you are going for reduced rent and full-time for temporary free rent. No drugs (pot is fine) Pets welcome after mine are gone. My cat will not tolerate another cat and I am open to introducing another dog as long as mine accepts them. No parties. Minimal visitors are optimal. Single person only.
