The home to five Christmas parades is Clarington. It has more parades of Santa Claus / Christmas than any other Canadian town-sized municipality. Samuel McLaughlin’s birthplace was Enniskillen, which is situated in the northern part of Clarington. In 1904, Mr. McLaughlin founded the McLaughlin Motor Car Co. which was one of Canada's first major car makers, which grew into Canada's General Motors. The Enniskillen General Store, which opened in 1840 and still exists today, is located in Enniskillen.
