Ajax, Ontario Apartment & House Rentals
Constructed across a shell plant during World War II, Ajax was named after the HMS Ajax, the Royal Navy cruiser. Today, the past of war in Ajax was all but forgotten, replaced by its current status as a culture in the bedroom. Most people use Ajax as their residency, but drive into Hamilton or Toronto. Yet, Ajax still emerges out of the darkness of these bigger cities, silently. It is now one of the fastest-growing markets in Ontario, and is quickly becoming a sanctuary for young people in search of a decent offer.
The population of Ajax is exploding as the town fills with young professionals. There are couples who like more room and privacy than is afforded in Hamilton or Toronto. Apartments for rent in Ajax are affordable and spacious, but the town's main community is composed of household for rent. Ajax is mixed, and the region has significant black and South Asian populations. Ajax currently has the largest number of black people in any big city in Canada. Local Ajax residents tend to be well educated, with more than two thirds of the population earning post-secondary degrees.
