Due to the limited capacity of the well during the dry summer season, the home has been occupied by one person or a maximum of two occupants. This would also be ideal for working professionals who work remotely and want to enjoy a quiet, nature-based lifestyle. Gabriola Island is a short 20 mins ferry ride from Nanaimo, with two car ferries running frequently, almost every 30 minutes. Several seaplane and Helijet services also operate between Nanaimo and Vancouver. Seaplane and Helijet terminals are located in downtown Nanaimo, close to the Gabriola ferry terminal. There is also a direct flight between Gabriola and Vancouver on a regular schedule. Additionally, the Hullo fast ferry provides an affordable, passenger-only route between downtown Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver.
